Summer – 2021
Go Fresh’s 2021 summer season began under new leadership, as the mobile market transitioned from the Public Health Institute of Western MA to Wellspring. It opened during the week of June 15 and ended the last week of October; a period of 20 weeks. Startup of the market was delayed by uncertainty about the pandemic as the 2021 summer season was being planned. During the 2020 season the mobile market shifted to produce box deliveries rather than the in-person mobile market as people isolated themselves at home to prevent the spread of COVID. Winter 2021
The Go Fresh Mobile Market expanded from a summer season program to year round by operating its first pilot winter market from November 2021 to May 2022 – and given the success of this program plans are underway to continue and expand winter operations. This meant the market only took a two week break from the end of October when the summer 2021 season ended, to mid-November when the winter season began. Go Fresh Mobile Market received a three-year, $150,000 grant from Health New England to enable them to double the number of people it provides access to fresh, healthy, local foods; enact a pilot program to expand the Go Fresh farmers market throughout winter, providing year-round access to health foods; partner with local health clinics to establish a food-prescription based program that meets the needs of patients with chronic conditions through education and access to healthy foods; and continue to support minority and immigrant farmers through out the Pioneer Valley

Brown Rice and Summer Vegetables
Serves 6 1 cup brown rice, uncooked. Two and 1/4 cups water or vegetable stock Medium zucchini cut julienne or thin stips Two scallion, finely chopped One large tomato, small chop 1/4 cup parsley Salt and Pepper to taste Wash, prepare and chop vegetables and herbs. In a medium saucepan add COLD water/stock and rice. Slowly bring to a boil.
